when cleaning my ps3 am I pushing dust into the console by doing this everyday?

Everytime I see dust on my ps3 I dust it off with a dust swiffer or microfiber cloth. Is it ok to dust over the vents, does the cloth collect the dust and keep it or does it push it in as it goes over?
